XpertiseNow eyes expansion into Hong Kong and Malaysia

Having launched in Singapore in 2020, and subsequently expanded to Australia and Indonesia, consulting marketplace XpertiseNow is set for inroads into two new Asian markets: Hong Kong and Malaysia.

XpertiseNow is a challenger startup in the management consulting industry – looking to break down the domination of large consultancies and their commoditised propositions by providing on-demand access to specialised expertise. The digital platform connects independent experts / (boutique) consulting firms with customers, peers, specialists and the latest industry knowledge.

XpertiseNow kicked off in Singapore more than a year ago and has made waves since – setting up an Australia practice in March 2021, closely followed with an Indonesia launch in April. Now it’s time for more expansion – with new offices planned in Hong Kong, Malaysia, the US and the UK.

According to CEO and co-founder Fraser Ross, the platform is working to keep pace with burgeoning demand for its proposition – helped on by fundamental shifts in the consulting market. “The number of specialist consultancies is growing rapidly driven by an increasing preference for businesses to use them over the larger, broader and more expensive consultancies,” he explained.

“Many are started by leaders from the larger firms who left frustrated looking to build something that is more meaningful, impactful and rewarding, XpertiseNow is a home for specialist consultancies, where our single goal is to help them achieve their goals and be more successful.”

Networking opportunities aside, the platform serves its purpose by advising consultants on how to build a profitable practice. Asia Pacific is a hub for consultancies – big or small – with the region’s estimated $25 billion consulting industry accounting for one-sixth of annual consulting revenues across the world.

Now with additional offices in business hubs Malaysia and Hong Kong, XpertiseNow is looking to cement its position in the consulting market – while also tapping into traditional big-ticket markets in the US and the UK. Per a statement, the firm’s leadership is in talks with investors to fuel this expansion.

And it’s not just geographical growth. The firm has also launched a new set of digital solutions that can boost the speed, quality and cost-effectiveness of innovations processes. The suite includes tools for next-gen research, expertise development and performance improvement.

“Today's business challenges demand smarter management consulting, Technology-driven consulting is at the heart of this model,” concluded XpertiseNow chief technology officer and co-founder Sundi Balu.
