R/GA inks deal with refurbished electronics marketplace Reebelo
R/GA has added one of APAC’s fastest growing startups to its growing list of clients in the region.
The international marketing and business transformation consultancy works for the likes of Nike, Google, Samsung, Singlife and Mox Bank in Asia Pacific, as well as a cohort of startups. Adding to its roster, the consulting firm has inked a deal with Reebelo, a fast-growing online marketplace for refurbished electronics.
Singapore-based Reebelo’s purpose is to contribute to a more sustainable world by introducing a circular economy for electronics. According to a study by the National Environment Agency of Singapore, the city-state produces 60,000 tons of e-waste annually, and only 6% of that gets recycled. Reebelo’s ecommerce marketplace enables consumers to buy or sell used smartphones, tablets, and notebooks, reducing electronic waste in the process.
Further benefiting the climate, for each device sold, Reebelo pledges to plant one tree in partnership with One Tree Planted as part of their commitment to a greener and more sustainable future.
In a bid to propel its brand recognition in the marketplace, Reebelo has teamed up with R/GA, which will support the firm with realising “the next phase of its brand evolution and go-to-market strategy,” said chief executive officer Philip Franta. He is together with chief product officer Fabien Rastouil the brainchild of the startup – both co-founders are strong advocates and supporters of sustainability and the circular economy.
Commenting on the consulting agreement, Franta said: “We’re glad to have R/GA in this next step of our journey towards a more sustainable future.”
Brady Ambler, Group Strategy Director at R/GA in Singapore, stated: “R/GA has a rich history of working with some of the world’s most innovative startups, and we are excited to work with Philip, Fabien and the Reebelo team to define their role in the circular economy and take the Reebelo brand to the next level.”
He added that working with brands such as Reebelo is “in perfect alignment with our purpose at R/GA of creating a more human future.”
The appointment of R/GA as its brand innovation partner comes shortly after Reebelo received a seed round funding of $1.25 million, backed by Germany-based June Fund and Antler.
