R/GA promotes Anthony Baker to managing director of Japan business
International design and marketing consultancy R/GA has promoted Anthony Baker to Managing Director of its Japan business.
Anthony Baker makes the step up from his previous role of General Manager for Japan, now assuming overall responsibility for the firm’s strategic direction and performance in the Japanese market.
In the role, he will focus on driving business growth, expanding long-term strategic alliances with clients and ecosystem partners, and expanding the firm’s offerings in strategy, brand, design, communications, and technology.
Commenting on the appointment, Michael Titshall, R/GA’s CEO of Asia Pacific, stated: “Anthony has driven R/GA in Japan to new levels of success, delivering exceptional outcomes for our clients. Our collaboration with global brands like Google, Nike and Fujitsu in groundbreaking work, underscore Anthony’s exceptional leadership.”
“We look forward to continued impact under his guidance as R/GA enters its next phase in North Asia.”
Baker brings more than 25 years of experience in digital marketing and technology to the role. In 2017, he moved to Japan from the United Kingdom to co-found R/GA’s Japanese business, spearheading the practice through a period of strong growth.
Recent projects of R/GA Japanese team include working together with gaming company Ponos on a Black Friday campaign, leading to an expanded partnership across the US, Japan, Taiwan, and Korea, and working on product activation campaigns with long-term partners Nike and Google, and digital transformation initiatives with Shiseido, Fujitsu and Sapporo.
“It’s rare to find strategic agency partners who grasp Japan’s distinct culture and bring together diverse, global teams, and network capabilities. R/GA stands out in offering exceptional talent and applying network accelerator tools in AI, cloud computing, search intelligence, and data in both Japanese and English. I deeply appreciate R/GA’s trust in me and my team’s support, as we take our work and operations to new heights,” said Baker.
