YCP advises on sale of Singapore-based Spectrum Audio Visual to Hibino
Singapore-based Spectrum Audio Visual has been acquired by Hibino Corporation, a leading audio-visual specialist based in Japan, in a deal that was advised on by YCP.
Established in 1999, Spectrum Audio Visual is a company engaged in sales and installation of professional audio/visual equipment. The company provides solutions ranging from design to installation, maintenance, and renewal of systems for a wide range of clients, including corporations, educational institutions, medical facilities, entertainment facilities, and government institutions.
In 2024, the Singapore-based company recorded revenues of SGD 27 million, with turnover also coming generated in international markets such as Malaysia and Sri Lanka.
On April 1, Hibino Corporation announced that it has acquired a 75% stake in Spectrum Audio Visual, with the aim of strengthening its presence across the Southeast Asian market.
Hibino Corporation is one of the larger players in the audio and visual sector, with a headcount of over 1,600 employees and operations in 11 countries, including in Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and South Korea. In its latest financial year, the Japanese company recorded revenues of over 50 billion Japanese Yen.
For Spectrum Audio Visual, the joining of forces with the global player will provide its team with access to end-to-end expertise in the audio and visual value chain – from consultancy and system integration to LED manufacturing, video production, equipment distribution, and live event rental.
Vincent Chua, managing director of Spectrum Audio Visual, said: “This is a significant step forward for Spectrum and our clients. Hibino’s financial strength and international experience will enhance our ability to deliver complex projects across Asia-Pacific, while our leadership, operations, and client-first culture remain unchanged.”
The deal was advised on by YCP, which provided sell-side M&A support to Chua, who has retained a 25% stake in the company. YCP’s deal team was led by partner Anil Rai, he was supported by colleagues Alex Charles Vila and Oanh Nguyen.
