AlixPartners launches 4th Asia Pacific office in Singapore
Global management consulting firm AlixPartners has launched an office in Singapore, extending its presence in Asia Pacific to four offices.
Headquartered in New York, AlixPartners is a management consultancy specialising in seven lines of business, including economics, mergers & acquisitions, performance improvement, and restructuring.
Commenting on the market entry into Singapore, a key business hub in the Southeast Asia region, AlixPartners CEO Simon Freakley said, “AlixPartners prides itself on being a global firm, and our investment in Singapore reflects our commitment to building a vibrant, sustainable, and perpetuating business in Asia – a key part of our growth strategy.”
Further describing the new office as a “major milestone” in the firm’s Asia Pacific growth strategy, the Singapore locale joins offices in Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. Globally, AlixPartners now has 25 offices worldwide.
“For more than 18 years, we have served clients and established our presence in Asia Pacific. The region has long been a critically important part of our growth strategy, and our new office will enable us to make a deeper impact,” said Shiv Shivaraman, Partner and Managing Director, and Co-Leader of the Asia Pacific region.
On the importance of Singapore as a base for doing business, Shivaraman said, “Singapore serves as the regional headquarters for many multinational companies, a financing hub for Malaysian and Indonesian conglomerates, and a center for international arbitration, with a strong restructuring market – all of which offer attractive opportunities for our capabilities.”
According to the Asia Pacific Co-Leader (the other is Tokio-based Tom Noda), AlixPartners has already built a local team that can offer the firm’s full suite of its services, with initial sectors of focus including maritime, aerospace, defense, technology, media, telecom, private equity, consumer products, and retail.
Co-heading the Singapore office is Lian Hoon Lim, a Partner and Managing Director who has been with the firm for close to nine years. He specialises in performance improvement and turnaround work, and most recently led the offerings in the Hong Kong market. A veteran of consulting, Lim previously spent more than a decade at global counterparts Kearney and PA Consulting.
Other major consulting firms present in Singapore include: all three of the strategy giants, McKinsey& Company, Boston Consulting Group, and Bain & Company; the Big Four; technology giants such as Accenture and Capgemini; as well as closer rivals to AlixPartners such as Alvarez & Marsal and FTI Consulting.
