Oliver Wyman makes three senior promotions in Singapore and Hong Kong
Global strategy and management consultancy Oliver Wyman has made three senior promotions in Asia, with Nasir Hai Khan elevated to partner and Hannah Lovett and Shuping Koh becoming executive directors.
Based out of Hong Kong, Khan has been a member of Oliver Wyman’s Asia Pacific Actuarial practice for the past three years, while Lovett and Shuping Koh have held senior organisational positions within the consultancy’s Singapore office.
The trio are among 44 top-level end-of-year promotions across twenty of Oliver Wyman’s offices worldwide, with the firm’s female leadership numbers in the Asia Pacific getting a further boost through the elevation of Genevieve Beart and Suzy Torta in Australia.
“This exceptional group of leaders have consistently delivered for our clients while strengthening the collaborative spirit that defines our success,” said CEO Nick Studer. “They exemplify what we can achieve when we operate as one, and I am confident that their expanded roles will drive even greater impact for our clients and the culture that makes Oliver Wyman special.”
With more than a decade previously spent between Towers Watson and Metlife, Nasir Khan joined Oliver Wyman from KPMG in 2022 to help build up the firm’s newly-launched actuarial practice for the Asia Pacific, which is based out of Hong Kong and supports clients in the insurance (life and property & casualty) and health sectors on strategy, operations and modelling among other areas.
A fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in the UK, Khan’s areas of expertise include financial reporting, risk and capital management, M&A, and actuarial transformations, and prior to joining Oliver Wyman he was a director at KPMG and served as head of financial planning & analysis for Metlife’s MEA (Middle East & Africa) region stationed in the UAE.
Hannah Lovett meanwhile serves as chief counsel, and since the start of last year, chief operating officer of Oliver Wyman’s Asia Pacific business, having joined the firm in Singapore in 2017 from the Ingenious Group with earlier time spent as a solicitor and associate at Sheridans and Linklaters in London and Tokyo. She earned her masters in law from the University of Cambridge.
As part of dual chief counsel and COO remit, Lovett is responsible for the firm’s regional infrastructure support and cost budget management, as well as advising on all legal, risk, and compliance matters. She is also credited with having supported various business growth initiatives, including acquisitions and geographical expansion across the Asia Pacific region.
Shuping Koh also becomes an executive director in Singapore after close to two decades at the firm, including a lengthy stint as chief of staff soon after joining as a financial services associate from Capital One in the US in 2007. In 2022, she was made a principal, following a long period where she was able to focus on raising her family thanks to Oliver Wyman’s flexibility policies.
Here, it’s worth noting that four of the five senior leadership promotions the firm has made across its Asia Pacific offices, including Torta and Beart as partners in Sydney and Melbourne, are female. Oliver Wyman acknowledges there is still more to do to encourage greater female leadership in the region, but says it remains committed to this goal and is encouraged by the progress being made.
