BrazilFTI subsidiary FTI Capital Advisors launches in Hong Kong market
FTI Consulting has launched its wholly-owned investment banking and mergers & acquisitions division – FTI Capital Advisors – in the Hong Kong market.
Headquartered in the United States, FTI Capital Advisors specialises in four lines of business: mergers & acquisitions (including carve-outs), capital raising, valuation and initial public offerings. The unit serves clients across sectors.
Over the past years, FTI Capital Advisors has expanded its footprint across major financial and business centres, and the practice now has a around a dozen offices outside of home base the United States. The launch in Hong Kong complements the firm’s existing Asia operation in Singapore.
“We have invested in building a strong foundation at FTI Capital Advisors around the globe,” said Fede Membrillera, Global Co-Lead of FTI Capital Advisors. “With the launch in Hong Kong, we further build on our strategy of providing investment banking solutions to our clients worldwide.”
Deals that FTI Capital Advisors has off late worked on in Asia include: helping Indosat divest a business unit in Indonesia (2022), advising e& on a minority stake acquisition in Korea-based cloud company Bespin Global (2022), and supporting Indonesia-based Telkomsel with the sale of around 6,000 towers to Mitratel (2021).

With a Hong Kong team added to the mix, the unit will now be able to better serve its clients locally and beyond, said Jason Ho, a Senior Managing Director who leads FTI Capital Advisors in Hong Kong.
“With our securities and advisory licenses in Hong Kong, coupled with our advisory licenses in North America and Europe, we are able to combine our in-house industry experts, due diligence and valuation teams’ expertise to customise regional and cross-border financing and M&A solutions for our clients throughout their business cycle and during any market environment.”
Ho has been brought in externally by FTI Consulting to lead the arm. He has around 20 years of experience in investment banking, capital financing, and transactions. Ho most recently worked with Commerzbank in Hong Kong as the Regional Head of Primary Bonds, and before that, he held senior roles at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Citigroup, and ICBC China.
Other members of the launching team of FTI Capital Advisors in Hong Kong include Alex Wong, a Managing Director with a background in investment banking (Goldman Sachs, Lazard and JPMorgan), consulting (Oasis Advisory) and private equity (TNG FinTech Group).

Meanwhile, on specific multidisciplinary matters such as deals and restructuring, FTI Capital Advisors works closely with experts from FTI Consulting’s Corporate Finance & Restructuring practice to provide for a rounded offering.
