Ogilvy China installs Angel Chen as inaugural chief growth officer

Global marketing and public relations agency Ogilvy has named Angel Chen as its inaugural Chief Growth Officer for China.

In this newly-created role, Chen will be based out of Beijing and be responsible for business and product development, service innovation and platform partnerships. She has been tasked with helping the firm expand its footprint in Asia’s largest economy at an “exciting time of change and opportunity,”  she said. 

“Ogilvy is at the forefront of creatively effective solutions tailored for today’s fast-evolving business and media environment and I am excited to drive our China business forward by establishing strong client relationships and building out new offerings, products and partnerships that can add tangible value to their brands,” Chen added. 

The newly appointed executive re-joins Ogilvy having departed the firm eight years ago to become an entrepreneur. “That period has been very fulfilling, and now I am honoured to come back to Ogilvy.” During this episode, Chen worked closely with platforms like Douyin and Kuaishou to drive her own education business Glocal School, which offers discovery trips and immersion courses for Chinese children around the globe.

At Ogilvy, Chen will work closely with China-based office heads (Shanghai Beijing, Guangzhou, Qingdao, Shenzhen) and the leaders of its five business units (Public Relations, Health & Wellness, Advertising, Experience and Growth & Innovation) and reports to Chris Reitermann, Chief Executive Officer for Ogilvy Asia and Greater China.

“Her hands-on business experience paired with her extensive agency experience will be a great combination to drive value for our clients,” commented Reitermann.

During her first spell at Ogilvy, Chen spent twelve years with the firm, growing the ranks to President of OgilvyOne China.
