Barry Chung and Jonathan Chau join CBRE in Hong Kong
Global real estate consultancy CBRE has added two seniors to its team in Hong Kong: Jonathan Chau and Barry Chung.
Jonathan Chau meanwhile has been hired to lead CBRE’s Investment Property & Capital Markets practice. He will oversee the day-to-day operation of the unit, including client management, project delivery, research and internal operations.
He joins the firm from rival rival Savills, where he was the Deputy Managing Director of the Hong Kong office. He most recently also headed up the newly formed Investment Private Office practice, focusing on assisting high-net-worth families, institutional funds and boutique developers while providing disposal advice and services including private treaty and tender (public or private).
During his fourteen years at the firm, he was personally involved in numerous significant deals including land development, residential, industrial and office amounting to over HKD 67 billion in total transaction value.
“We are thrilled to have such an energetic and inspirational leader to head up our Investment Property and Capital Markets team and to drive our growth strategy in this dynamic market, particularly through harnessing our capabilities in the private office sector,” said Tom Gaffney, Regional Managing Director for The Greater Bay Area and Hong Kong at CBRE.
Alan Li, Managing Director of Capital Markets for Greater China added: “Jonathan will be a valuable contributor, not only in knowledge transfer and enhancing the company’s bottom line, but also in driving cross-collaboration among various business lines across Greater China as a whole.”
Meanwhile, the Investment Property & Capital Markets practice has further been boosted by another Savills recruit: Barry Chung, appointed a Director. He brings a decade of experience in the property transactions and management industry, having gained a deep understanding of the markets as well as extensive transactional experience on a wide range of asset classes including hotels, retail podiums, offices, industrial buildings as well as development sites.
At CBRE, he will provide professional advice and consultancy to his network of clients spanning developers, local family offices, real estate funds and listed entities with their acquisitions and disposals.
