The communications and marketing consultancy Cognito have launched a new office Hong Kong, joining Singapore as the firm continues to expand its presence across the Asia Pacific.

Founded in 2000, Cognito, which provides communications and marketing advice with a specialist focus on the finance, technology and professional service sectors, has cut the ribbon on a new office in Hong Kong. The hub will add to its existing centres in London, Amsterdam, New York, Los Angeles, and Singapore, and continues its focussed expansion into the Asia Pacific region.

In respect to the chosen new location, Darrell Wright, Cognito’s Managing Director for Asia Pacific, said, “As one of the world’s most important global financial centres, Hong Kong leads the evolution of this service industry and the transformation of the media landscape. As such, the city remains central to the region’s communications activities at large domestic and multi-national corporations.”

Wright adds; “This is reflected in the growth in activity we’ve experienced here, as firms wish to widen their exposure to an increasingly sophisticated audience using ever more advanced techniques, systems and platforms.” According to the firm, the new office will kick off with an established list of clients on global retainers, as well as local contracts from across the tech and financial service sectors, including tier one asset managers and emerging FinTech players.

New appointment

The consulting firm's new office will be led by Dan Bradley, who joined Cognito last year after a travel sabbatical following a previous two-tear stint as PR Director for Thomson Reuters. Prior to this role, Bradley, who holds a BA and MPhil from the University of Cambridge, directed the EMEA and Latin American PR and communications for SunGuard, and earlier served as a consultant for three years with Fishburn Hedges.

“Dan brings first class experience and knowledge of the industry with him. He is an excellent choice to help build the business in Hong Kong, supported by the global and regional management team at Cognito,” Wright said, on Bradley’s appointment. “Cognito aims to harness its global and regional expertise to bring best-in-class solutions to clients in Hong Kong and the North Asia region,” the firm concluded in a statement.

China is considered one of the world's fastest growing consulting markets. Recently, the international advisory firm Accuracy also entered the local market, with the acquisition of Chinese consultancy GTE.
