Global advisory Willis Towers Watson has appointed a new country leader for Singapore: Leng Leng Ng. Her predecessor, Vivek Nath, will now head up WTW’s Corporate Risk and Broking business in South and Southeast Asia.

Current head of corporate risk and broking for Willis Towers Watson in Singapore, Leng Leng Ng, has now been dually appointed as the global advisory’s Singapore country leader. While retaining her previous responsibilities, Ng takes over from Vivek Nath, who moves into the role of Corporate Risk and Broking (CRB) practice leader for South and Southeast Asia, as well as serving as WTW’s Head of South Asia.

The appointment marks a swift ascension for Ng, who has been with Willis Towers Watson for less than three years, joining the consultancy in late 2017 after five years as a director with Aon.

Previously, she spent almost the same time with Allianz, and before that again five years with risk management firm Marsh (part of the Marsh & McLennan stable, which also includes Mercer and strategy consultancy Oliver Wyman).

Altogether, Ng brings to her new role more than a decade and a half of experience in insurance broking and underwriting in Singapore and from across Asia, and is credited by Willis Towers Watson for having been “instrumental in building a strong team of risk advisors in Singapore, working closely with corporate clients to address their unique risk challenges through effective risk transfer solutions.”

Meanwhile, her predecessor, Vivek Nath, has been with Willis Towers Watson for the past 14 years, originally joining the firm in 2006 from a HR consulting role with PwC as a manager for WTW’s ‘Total Rewards’ practice. Since then, Nath has steadily moved up the ranks, first as managing director in Malaysia, then India, and ultimately as Head of South Asia and country manager for Singapore.

According to a statement, Nath will now work with WTW’s country and CRB leaders across ASEAN and India to strengthen its portfolio of businesses, advance strategic initiatives and enhance relationships across key client segments and insurers, while Ng will be responsible for working with various business leaders across the company to identify an effective sales and client management strategy in Singapore.

“Both Leng Leng and Vivek bring extensive experience and diversity to complement our team of experienced leaders,” said Scott Burnett, WTW’s head of Asia. “Their new and additional roles will enhance our advisory and execution capabilities, strengthening the delivery of our client offerings and innovative risk management solutions to help clients stay resilient and navigate a rapidly evolving landscape in Asia.”

Burnett continued; “The South Asian countries including Singapore continue to be key markets in our Asia portfolio, and one where we hold significant opportunities for strategic growth. At the same time, we continue to grow our regional talent base and expertise by adding new leaders throughout our organisation in Asia.” Among those new leaders is Luke Ware, who late last year was appointed as Indonesia country head.
