Stradegi appoints Claudia Marcusson head of investment risk & operations
Singapore-based finance sector management consultancy Stradegi has appointed Claudia Marcusson as its new practice head of investment risk and operations.
With a focus exclusively on the investment management sector, Stradegi provides clients such as asset managers, insurance companies, pension funds and sovereign wealth funds with advice on business strategy, operations, technology and governance from its headquarters in Singapore. Established in 2013, the consulting firm is led by a team of experienced buy-side professionals, who will now welcome Claudia Marcusson among their ranks as the new practice head of investment risk and operations.
Marcusson brings over fifteen years of international financial experience to the role, with previous posts in the Netherlands, US, UK and Germany and a background in venture capital, mergers & acquisitions, and project management. Marcusson joins from the Netherlands-based asset managers NN Investment Partners (formerly of the ING group), where from the Singapore office she headed its Risk Management division for APAC – responsible for all financial and non-financial risk aspects across Asian markets.Prior to her employment with NN Investments in Singapore, where she commenced in 2013, Marcusson held senior management positions for a period of five years with ING Investment Management in the area of market data, along with a previous role as a Client Relationship Manager with the asset management practice of fellow Dutch bank ABN AMRO. Earlier in her career, Marcusson was a consultant for Volkswagon Consulting, and later acted as an Associate in Mergers & Acquisition during a two-year stint with Berlin-based IEG Investment Banking.
Marcusson said on social media; “After almost 10 years with ING Investment Management and its successor NN Investment Partners, it is time for a new challenge. I am very excited to join Stradegi Investment Management Consulting. I am impressed by the high quality of people and look very much forward to working with this great team. A super warm welcome, the start could not be better!”
With Master’s degrees in both Science – Economics & Operations Research – and Law, in Chinese Business Law, Marcusson also holds a keen interest in Fintech, and recently led a discussion on blockchain and initial coin offerings for the Investment Management Association of Singapore (IMAS – where she is a member of the Risk and Performance Committee), covering the basics of blockchain and the potential legal, regulatory and risk-related issues surrounding the technology.
The subject of blockchain is gaining ever-increasing prominence in the finance and professional services domain, with PwC in Hong Kong and in Singapore (Strategi’s office-block neighbours) recently buying a stake of blockchain specialists VeChain, and global strategy firm Roland Berger joining a Singapore-based blockchain alliance to promote greater commercial adoption of the technology. Meanwhile, Hong Kong carrier Cathay Pacific has unveiled a blockchain-powered mobile rewards app, developed in conjunction with Accenture.
