The international business advisory FTI Consulting has extended its global e-discovery provisions in partnership with software developer Relativity to cover clients in Hong Kong and throughout Asia. In Hong Kong, the firm will be the first to offer RelativityOne, a comprehensive cloud-based platform for e-discovery management.

Following last year’s partnership launch with Relativity, and the firm’s recent introduction of its RelativityOne platform service to the UK and Europe, the technology practice of global consultancy FTI Consulting has further expanded the offering to Asia, enhancing the firm’s capacity to seamlessly handle cross-border e-discovery matters across the world.

“Global e-discovery matters are complex for a variety of reasons, from data privacy laws to multiple languages and differing cultural norms,” Daryl Teshima, a Senior Managing Director with FTI Technology said. “FTI Technology helps make this difficult process more streamlined, cost-effective and defensible. We do this through our experts on the ground, adhering to a global playbook, and now, by including the Relativity platform in our global portfolio.”

FTI has been a keen adopter of the SaaS platform, supporting 35 projects consisting of close to 20 terabytes within four and a half months of doing so, after having dived in with the software to tackle several high-volume, resource-intensive projects with tight timelines straight off the bat. The firm, however, believes it differentiates its Relativity offering by leveraging its own advanced analytics and consulting expertise to enhance the technology’s advantages.

“What RelativityOne really gave us was the elasticity and flexibility to expand and focus on what we do best—providing innovative solutions to our clients," Teshima said. “The introduction of RelativityOne to Hong Kong provides us with new opportunities to serve both our local customers and cross-border clients with the adaptability and security that the SaaS product provides… We’re excited to add Relativity to our portfolio in Asia and offer our clients another method to assist them with handling their matters in compliance with local data privacy requirements.”

Spanning the entire e-discovery process, from legal holds and global data collections to legal review and production, FTI Technology is considered one of the leading consulting and service providers on complex discovery matters, such as large-scale multi-jurisdictional disputes and sensitive internal investigations, serving clients in the corporate, legal and governmental sectors.

Commenting on the expansion of their partnership into Asia, Steve Couling, Vice President of International at Relativity said, “FTI Technology has built a reputation for delivering high-quality e-discovery services on a global scale. By adding our secure and scalable Relativity platforms to its portfolio in Asia, FTI Technology continues to demonstrate its commitment to innovation and outstanding customer service.”

Earlier this year, FTI Consulting bolstered its Asian operations with the promotion of two Senior Managing Directors to it offices in Singapore and Shanghai, covering the firm’s Forensic & Litigation and Economic Consulting practices. In addition to Singapore, Shanghai and Hong Kong, the firm has offices in Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and the Philippines among its 28 countries covered worldwide – with a total workforce of more than 4,600 employees.
