Tokyo-based Corporate Directions Inc has entered into a strategic business alliance with Universal Consulting, an Indian management consulting firm.

Founded in 1986 in Tokyo by former Boston Consulting Group consultants, Corporate Directions Inc (CDI) is one of Japan’s leading strategic consulting firms. The now 70-person firm provides strategy and implementation consulting services across industry sectors, throughout the Asia Pacific region. CDI delivers projects in Japan and several other Asian countries, including China, Vietnam, and Singapore.

Universal Consulting meanwhile is a 30-year-old management consulting company headquartered in Mumbai. Since its inception, the consulting firm has completed over 1,000 consulting projects to over 400 clients in India and beyond. Universal Consulting currently has around 35 partners and consultants.

As part of their strategic alliance, CDI and Universal Consulting will collaborate on projects in the Indian market. India is a key focus for many of CDI’s multinational clients, who frequently seek the firm’s expertise when entering the country or expanding their local operations.

Through this partnership, CDI will be able to offer deeper local market expertise around entry strategies for Japanese companies looking to establish a presence, as well as growth strategies for those already operating in India.

“We will work together on a project-by-project basis to provide a wide range of support for the global expansion of Japanese companies, from strategy planning to local expansion,” stated the leaders of the two firms, Tatsuya Ogawa (CDI) and Jay Desai (Universal Consulting).

For Corporate Directions Inc, the move comes shortly after it struck a partnership with India-based Aranca to strengthen its research capabilities.
