Accenture's Greater China leader Wei Zhu crosses to Alvarez & Marsal
Alvarez & Marsal has appointed Wei Zhu as Managing Director and Co-Head of its North Asia region.
In his new role, Wei Zhu will work alongside fellow Managing Director and Co-Head James Dubow to spearhead Alvarez & Marsal’s operations in North Asia, which spans offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Seoul.
The region has already seen strong growth in the past years, more than tripling the number of practitioners since 2020 to 340. Together, Zhu and Dubow aim to grow the practice further, building on Alvarez & Marsal’s audit-free model (as opposed to the Big Four) and integrated approach across countries to serve its clients.
“The North Asia region is undergoing an accelerated transition from traditional growth models to a more quality and sustainability-based economy. Alvarez & Marsal’s integrated platform uniquely positions the firm to help corporates navigate this transformation and optimize opportunities arising from rapid digitalization across industries,” said Zhu.
Prior to joining Alvarez & Marsal, Zhu served as the Greater China Chairman and Market Unit Lead at Accenture, managing a team of 16,000 employees. He has also held leadership roles at Kearney, Roland Berger, Goldman Sachs, CVC Capital and Standard Chartered.
During his 35 years in management consulting, investment banking, and private equity, Zhu has gained extensive experience with commercial growth, business models, mergers and acquisitions, and transformation. He has worked in multiple sectors including automotive, manufacturing, consumer goods, telecommunications, logistics, high-tech and financial services.
Welcoming Zhu to the role, Dubow said: “Rapidly changing market conditions demand a continuing and deepening investment in our operational capabilities. Wei’s appointment reflects our commitment to do just that. His functional expertise and in-depth knowledge of multiple sectors augment our lines of services and regional leadership position.”
“Wei’s joining underscores our commitment to expanding our North Asia footprint,” added Bryan Marsal, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Alvarez & Marsal. “His extensive expertise and connections, along with our growing regional team, furthers our ability to help clients navigate environment complexities while capitalizing on market opportunities that unlock growth.”
