BrazilJonathan Zhao new head of EY's Financial Services business in APAC
EY has announced the appointment of Jonathan Zhao as Regional Managing Partner of its Financial Services business in Asia Pacific.
Effective 1 July 2024, Jonathan Zhao will succeed Gary Hwa, and lead a team of more than 10,000 professionals across ASEAN, Greater China, Japan, Korea and Oceania focused on the banking, capital markets, insurance and wealth and asset management sectors.
“I am honored to be selected to lead the Financial Services business. I aim to build on this solid foundation and grow our business further, leaning on my years of experience leading some of our largest global client accounts,” said Zhao.
Zhao has nearly 30 years of experience in advising financial services institutions on complex strategies, mergers & acquisitions, business process integration and transformation, as well as risk management and performance improvements. He joined EY in 2000 in the US, after which he transferred to Hong Kong in 2005.
In 2013, he was installed as Asia Pacific Insurance Sector Leader, and since 2018 he serves as the Financial Services Sector Leader for the Strategy & Transactions division, responsible for driving EY’s strategic and deals offerings to financial services clients across Asia Pacific.
