Alvarez & Marsal promotes Dee Chung in Seoul office
Alvarez & Marsal has promoted Dee Chung to Managing Director in its Seoul office.
After working in private equity, at Samsung and at LG Electronics, Dee Chung joined Alvarez & Marsal in 2018 in the role of Senior Manager, over the years growing the ranks to Senior Director, and now Managing Director (the equivalent of partner at other consultancies).
A member of the consulting team, Chung has played a key role in the growth of several services in Seoul, including corporate transformation, turnaround advisory, and financial and operational restructuring.
Chung also helped Alvarez & Marsal expand its interim management offering in South Korea. Notable engagements he worked on include serving as interim Chief Executive Officer of a German multinational automotive parts manufacturer, where he handled a company-wide restructuring and special situation management, and serving as interim Chief Strategy Officer of a private equity-owned FMCG company, where he was responsible for a group-wide transformation.
His track record spans projects across a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, electronics, IT, consumer goods, retail, logistics, platform, automotive, and petrochemicals.
“Dee has played a pivotal role in driving both qualitative and quantitative growth for our Seoul office. He has overseen the successful delivery of Alvarez & Marsal’s unique services across a diverse spectrum of industries,” said MC Kim, Managing Director and Head of Alvarez & Marsal in South Korea.
“In addition to enhancing the position of Alvarez & Marsal in the local market, Dee is well recognized for his active role in numerous global collaboration projects, contributing significantly to meeting cross-border customer needs.”
Alvarez & Marsal’s Seoul office was initially established to support the local restructuring of Lehman Brothers, which was being led by Alvarez & Marsal globally at that time. After that project completed, the consulting firm diversified its offerings, driving substantial growth for the business.
