BRG adds energy veteran Phillip Solomon to Singapore team
Global consulting firm Berkeley Research Group (BRG) has strengthened its team in Singapore with Phillip Solomon.
Appointed a managing director, Phillip Solomon brings nearly 30 years of experience in the energy industry to the consulting firm, with a focus on the oil & gas, liquefied natural gas, power, renewables, water, and utility infrastructure sectors.
Solomon specialises in financial and commercial advisory services. His expertise spans financial analysis, joint-venture establishment and management, project development, mergers & acquisitions, due diligence processes, assurance, project finance and governance, and risk management.
Before joining Berkeley Research Group, Solomon led his own consulting boutique (Cotswold Consulting Group), where he provided expert witness services in relation to royalty payment disputes and liquefied natural gas trading arbitrations. He also delivered commercial advisory services to the governments of Singapore and Australia regarding major energy infrastructure projects.
Before his time as an entrepreneur, Solomon was a senior leader at several leading oil & gas companies, including Baker Hughes, General Electic, Santos, and Gaffney Cline & Associates. Earlier, he worked as a civil engineer at engineering consultancies.
Throughout his career, he has led the development of energy projects around the globe, with a particular focus on the Asia Pacific region.
“We are delighted to have such an experienced practitioner join us to help our clients in the region navigate the energy transition,” said Christopher Goncalves, chair of BRG’s Energy & Climate practice. “Phillip’s regional expertise, combined with his depth of industry experience – as owner, original equipment manufacturer, consultant and expert witness – will be a significant value-add for our clients.”
Mustafa Hadi, APAC leader at BRG, added: “Phillip’s industry track record and strong regional network boosts our energy practice and complements our capabilities in the mining, infrastructure and construction sectors. We are delighted to welcome him to our growing team in the APAC region.”
“The BRG team is involved in many market-leading projects and complex, high-value disputes in the region and around the world, and client demand is only growing,” said Solomon. “I’m thrilled to join the firm as it continues on its impressive growth trajectory.”
Headquartered in the US, Berkeley Research Group has more than 40 offices across 6 continents worldwide. Its Asia Pacific division spans offices in Beijing, Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, and two in Australia – in Perth and Sydney.
