Asian division of Delta Marine Consultants joins Van Oord
The Asian division of Delta Marine Consultants has been acquired by Van Oord, a Netherlands-headquartered marine construction and engineering company.
Headquartered in the Netherlands, Delta Marine Consultants is an engineering consultancy dedicated to the maritime industry. The firm provides the full range of services, from design and due diligence studies, to project delivery and contract services.
Delta Marine Consultants is a subsidiary of BAM, the largest construction group in the Netherlands, and has around 250 staff working for clients worldwide including maritime groups, port authorities, central governments and investors.
As part of the deal between the two Dutch companies, the Asia division comprising around 40 staff in Singapore and Indonesia has transferred to Van Oord. Financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed.
The Asian arm will continue its activities as Delta Marine Consultants. Meanwhile, the Dutch wing of Delta Marine Consultants will continue to operate under the flag of BAM and rebrand as DMC to avoid brand and go-to-market confusion.
“This transaction is in line with BAM’s strategy ‘Building a sustainable tomorrow’, which focuses on the markets in the Netherlands, United Kingdom and Ireland,” said Ruud Joosten, the CEO of BAM.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank our former colleagues in Singapore and Indonesia for their hard work and contribution for many decades. We are pleased that they can continue their meaningful role in maritime engineering projects and wish them all the best for the future.”
Pieter van Oord, the CEO of Van Oord, said: “The acquisition of Delta Marine Consultants strengthens our capabilities and enhances our local presence in an important growth region.”
“The acquisition is fully in line with Van Oord’s strategy to build a synergistic portfolio of marine businesses, and strengthens our engineering capabilities to address increasing project complexity and demand for integrated solutions. We are convinced both teams will be of added value to our dredging and offshore energy business units.”
In Asia, Van Oord has offices in Indonesia, Hong Kong, China, Mumbai, South Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.
