L.E.K. Consulting appoints Helen Chen as APAC healthcare co-leader
Global strategy consultancy L.E.K. Consulting has promoted Helen Chen – the Managing Partner of its Greater China business – to a regional Asia Pacific role.
Having already served as the Asia Pacific Co-Head of L.E.K. Consulting’s Healthcare industry practice on an interim basis for the past months, Helen Chen has now formally been appointed to the role.
In the position, she oversees the firm’s team of healthcare partners and consultants in seven offices: Shanghai (where Chen is based), Mumbai, New Delhi, Singapore, Tokyo, Melbourne, and Sydney.
Chen has over 30 years of consulting and industry experience in the United States and Asia markets and has been based in China since 2000. She has been with L.E.K. Consulting since 2003, appointed Head of the China practice in 2010, and Head of the Life Sciences unit for Asia in 2015. She previously also was a member of the firm’s Global Leadership Team.
In her client work, Chen helps companies expand their presence in China and Asia, advising on topics including business expansion, market growth, portfolio strategy, pricing and market access, mergers & acquisitions (commercial due diligence), and innovation.
“As L.E.K. Consulting increases focus on healthcare and life sciences work in Asia Pacific, Helen Chen is the clear choice to step into the role of Healthcare Sector Co-Head for the region, given her extensive knowledge and expertise across the sector,” said Nicholas Holder, Partner and Head of L.E.K. Consulting in Asia Pacific.
Prior to joining L.E.K. Consulting, Chen held senior management roles at several technology companies. She was an associate director of finance at Genentech (now Roche) and a sales planner at Abbott Laboratories (now Abbvie).
Chen is a frequent speaker and author on the opportunities and issues in China’s healthcare and life sciences sectors.
Founded in 1983, L.E.K. Consulting has 21 offices in the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Oceania.
