Australian management consulting firm KordaMentha has strengthened its Forensic practice in Singapore with Rob Watson.

Appointed a partner, Rob Watson brings 20 years of experience in fraud investigations and financial crime, including cases involving high-profile commercial fraud and money laundering across Australia and Singapore, and internal fraud and international sanction breaches in the oil, gas and mining industry in Australia, Singapore, Japan and Dubai.

Watson joins KordaMentha after three years at BHP, where he was most recently the Manager Response and Investigations for the Australia and Asia region.

Prior to his tenure in the oil & gas sector, Watson established the South East Asia Investigations practice at Deloitte and later held the role of Asia Pacific Director of Forensic Investigations, Financial Crime and Misconduct.

Earlier in his career, Watson served as a Detective Sergeant attached to the elite Serious and Organised Crime Directorate of the New South Wales Police Force.

Matthew Fleming, who leads KordaMentha’s Forensic Investigations practice, said that Watson’s decades of experience with investigations will bolster the firm’s expertise, and help it expand its forensic market position in Singapore and the wider South East Asia region.

“Singapore is a strategically important part of KordaMentha’s practice, offering a strong regional market for forensic services and access to clients involved in complex cross-jurisdictional matters. Rob’s appointment demonstrates our commitment to the region,” he added.

Head of the firm’s Singapore office, Cameron Duncan, said Watson’s appointment aligned with the firm’s growth ambition in the market. “With impressive leadership experience in his field, Rob will perform an important role in helping us to achieve further growth.”

Last year, KordaMentha was named one of Australia’s leading consulting firms for forensic services. Outside of Australia, the consultancy has offices in Singapore and Jakarta.
