Aurecon buys ecological and biodiversity consultancy AEC
Australian-origin engineering and advisory company Aurecon has acquired AEC, an ecological and biodiversity consultancy based in Hong Kong.
Originally established as Asia Ecological Consultants in 1999, AEC helps clients in Hong Kong, Mainland China and East Asia with integrating ecological considerations into their business strategies and project developments.
In addition to its core offerings, AEC also offers a range of other services including technical andscientific expertise, environmental legislation, and handling of public relations when dealing with sensitive environmental issues.
The deal sees the 10-strong team of ecologists, arborists and landscape professionals – including Directors Paul Leader and David Stanton – join Aurecon’s business in Hong Kong.
Commenting on the acquisition, William Cox, Chief Executive Officer at Aurecon, said: “The deal strengthens Aurecon’s capabilities to deliver beyond compliance, enabling economically sustainable, nature-positive infrastructure, supply chains and businesses. It sharpens our value proposition andpositions it well to deliver a more comprehensive suite of environmental and sustainability services to clients.”
The acquisition continues a streak of deals Aurecon has closed in Asia over the past 18 months, having previously purchased Acuity and Acumen in Hong Kong, and ERE Consulting Group in Malaysia. Meanwhile, in home market Australia, Aurecon recently bolted-on Market Advisory Group.
