British business advisory firm Quantuma has expanded into Asia Pacific with the opening of a new office in Singapore.

The Quantuma story started in the United Kingdom in 2013, when the consulting firm opened its first operation in Southampton. In the past nine years, Quantuma has grown to a business of over 270 people working from close to 20 offices in the UK, and increasingly from international hubs.

Quantuma’s office in Singapore is the firm’s seventh outside the UK, and follows a series of recent international office openings in offshore financial centres, including Dubai, Cayman Islands, Mauritius, Poland, Cyprus, and most recently British Virgin Islands.

“Establishing a presence in Singapore has been an ambition for a number of years and represents a key milestone in the implementation of our offshore strategy,” said Andrew Hosking, Managing Director and Head of International at Quantuma.

The Singapore team, which is led by Managing Director, Luke Furler, will offer cross-border, large and complex restructuring, and insolvency services, in addition to forensic accounting. “With significant demand for these services locally, the team is expected to grow to a headcount of 10 in the coming months,” said Furler.

Starting his career in his native Australia, Furler has spent almost 10 years in Singapore at among others KordaMentha, Borrelli Walsh and EY, gaining extensive expertise in cross-border insolvencies involving multi-jurisdictional litigation and asset recoveries. He specialises in large and complex restructuring engagements.

Earlier in Australia, Furler served McGrathNicol in its restructuring arm and PPB Advisory (which was acquired by PwC in 2018).

“I am delighted to have joined Quantuma at such a pivotal time. There is already a very strong demand for our services across the APAC region from clients who value our independence and local and international network,” he said.

“With a well-established offshore footprint in Europe, the Caribbean, Africa, the Middle East, and now the Far East, Quantuma is very well positioned to provide integrated and agile advisory services to serve the needs of professional advisors, lenders and their clients in the region.”

Other members of the founding team include Ellyn Tan, who joins Quantuma after spending almost seven years at FTI Consulting.

Hosking concluded: As with our other offices, our Singapore team is resourced with industry-recognised, leading talent, and builds on our position as a credible challenger to the Big Four, with deep regional and cross border expertise and independence at the heart of the firm.”
