Jay Chong joins Alvarez & Marsal's disputes & investigations arm
Global management consulting firm Alvarez & Marsal has added Jay Chong to its team in Hong Kong.
Appointed a Senior Director with the firm’s Disputes & Investigations practice, Jay Chong will leverage his more than two decades of experience in technology and consulting to help the firm serve its growing number of clients in the region seeking forensic expertise.
Chong has been focusing on forensic work for the past twelve years, working with corporations and law firms on e-discovery best practices and local regulatory compliance regarding sensitive data.
Prior to joining Alvarez & Marsal, Chong served as the APAC Regional Director for Forensic Services at Epiq Systems, where he was responsible for establishing and building out the digital forensic team for Asia. He also co-founded a business in the fintech sector.
Chong in particular specialises in digital forensic investigations and electronic discovery matters involving fraud, intellectual property, regulatory investigations and disputes.
Notable assignments he worked on include a large-scale e-discovery for a cross-border FCPA investigation of a US pharmaceutical company involving 250 custodians with 500 electronic devices (PCs and mobile phones) located across 14 cities in China. He also managed high-profile IP disputes for Chinese technology companies, one of which involved deploying an on-site e-discovery solution on client premises and managing over 6 terabytes of data.
Chong has worked with clients across various industries, including financial services, technology, telecommunications, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, energy and utilities, retail and consumer goods, and regulatory bodies.
“Jay’s digital forensic and e-discovery expertise, combined with his extensive information technology, legal technology, and cybersecurity and investigations experience, expands our ability to address clients’ evolving needs across Asia,” said Davin Teo, Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Disputes & Investigations practice in Hong Kong, and leader of the Forensic Technology team in Asia.
