Alvarez & Marsal launches Forensic Technology practice in Singapore
Professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal has strengthened its forensic capabilities in Southeast Asia with the launch of a new practice: Forensic Technology Services.
Alvarez & Marsal’s forensic technology team helps clients with leveraging technology to uncover and manage evidence and intelligence (e-discovery) in contentious legal and regulatory situations. The team is part of the Disputes & Investigations division, and supports several of the firm’s offerings including investigations, financial crime and restructuring, as well as bringing in standalone business.
Globally, the Forensic Technology Services practice is active in more than a dozen countries (Alvarez & Marsal itself has offices in 30+ countries), with Singapore the latest location to join the list. The move comes two years after the practice was launched in South Korea.
“The launch of our Forensic Technology Services unit in Singapore is aligned with our strategic growth plan and growing demand,” said Keith Williamson, Asia Head of Disputes & Investigations.
“Our new practice in Singapore will help meet the growing needs of law firms, banks, government bodies and multinational corporations embroiled in disputes and investigations. We have seen a significant rise in the number of local and cross-border disputes requiring experienced electronic discovery experts and investigations requiring a swift response and deep knowledge in digital forensics,” added Davin Teo, Asia Head of the Forensic Technology Services wing.
Leading the fresh arm is Daniel Tay, who has been recruited as a Senior Director. Alongside leading the Singapore region for the practice, he will also spearhead the development of Alvarez & Marsal’s forensic technology, e-discovery and cybersecurity practice across all Southeast Asian markets
Teo: “Daniel’s two-decade career in forensic technology in Singapore combined with his extensive industry network enables us to build on our expanding Forensic Technology business in the region and create value for clients.”
An industry veteran with more than 20 years of experience in forensic investigations, Tay joins from advisory firm KordaMentha where he worked as Executive Director for nine years. Prior to that, he led computer forensic investigations at FTI Consulting. He started his career in the public sector, working as an investigator and digital forensics examiner for the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau.
Tay commented: “I am delighted to join Alvarez & Marsal at a time when forensic technology demand is growing in both the private and the public sectors in Singapore and across neighbouring Southeast Asian markets. The firm’s reputation for leading some of the highest profile cross-border investigations in the region combined with its operational heritage are at the foundation of the firm’s ability to solve for complex problems.”
