AWS partner Versent adds five seniors to its team in Singapore
Technology consultancy Versent has over the past months bolstered its team in Singapore with the hire of over a dozen new professionals, including five seniors, lifting its headcount in the country to 60-plus.
Founded in Australia in 2014, Versent is an IT consultancy dedicated to the AWS-platform. The company supports its clients with consulting, application and system development, implementation, cloud migration, and managed services.
Versent first launched its Singapore operation in 2017, and on the back of steep growth the local team has now expanded to over 60 members. “We have doubled our customer base since late 2020, with the majority of work coming from the banking and insurance space, and we delivered triple digit percentage growth this past financial year,” said Jordan Windebank, General Manager of Versent’s Asia business.
The Covid-19 pandemic has been a major accelerator of the firm’s growth. “Organisations have had to adapt quickly to the new Covid-19 environment and for many that means moving their IT systems into the cloud and enabling their teams to work productively from home. We have considerable experience in helping companies using the AWS backbone with delivering digital projects and providing managed services support successfully.”
This has seen Versent hire a total of 30 new employees since the beginning of the year, including the recent onboarding of five seniors:
Steve Scola – Customer Director
Scola has been tasked with extending Versent’s digital transformation offerings, with a focus on cloud migration, data & analytics, and identity management. His previous role was with NTT as the data and analytics leader for APAC where he established the solution portfolio and advisory services. Earlier in his career, Scola served IBM and BT, among others.
Callum Davies – Principal Consultant
Davies joins Versent as a Principal Consultant, driving cloud propositions across Singapore. He focuses on helping clients migrate their workflows to the cloud, and on embedding cloud-driven performance improvement. Previously, Davies worked at IBM, and at an IT consultancy where he led teams across ASEAN, Japan and UK. Davies specialises in the financial services sector.
Emerson Reichelt – Principal Consultant
Reichelt joins Versent as a Principal Consultant, responsible for leading the firm’s consulting and transformation engagements. Before joining the firm, he was responsible for developing new digital products and capabilities for the APAC Advisory team of CBRE. Prior to that, Reichelt helped establish AvePoint’s Singapore office, building and leading several delivery teams in a number of successful knowledge management and process transformation projects.
Brian Claus – Principal Cloud Engineer
Claus has joined Versent as a Principal Engineer. His role is to assist clients migrating applications and infrastructure to AWS. Claus has extensive experience in the financial services sector, having previously worked for Citibank and RBC Capital. Prior to Versent, Claus was with ESW Capital where he was responsible for migrating acquired technology platforms to Amazon’s cloud infrastructure.
Ahmad Sholehin – Principal Engineer, Application Development
Sholehin has been appointed a Principal Engineer, Application Development. He previously was a research engineer in A*STAR where he led research teams in human-computer interaction. After that, Sholehin consecutively founded two start-ups, focused on building modern applications for government agencies, research institutions and smart cities. Alongside his role at Versent, Sholehin is an associate lecturer at the Singapore University of Social Sciences.
In the coming six months, Versent expects to break through the 100-employee barrier in Singapore.
