Angela Yu and Renfeng Zhao join FTI Consulting in Beijing office
Global management consultancy FTI Consulting has bolstered its Strategic Communications division in China with two Managing Directors Angela Yu and Renfeng Zhao.
Both new experienced hired are based in the firm’s Beijing office, and bring extensive experience in communications strategies and journalism to FTI Consulting. “With Renfeng and Angela coming onboard, we are able to offer our clients a full suite of services across our three pillars [reputation management, capital markets and public affairs] in the Chinese market,” said Joanne Wong, North Asia Leader of the Strategic Communications division.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Angela Yu was the Executive Director and spokesperson at Goldman Sachs China for 15 years, where she was responsible for the corporate communications strategy for the firm in China. She brings significant experience in media relations, media strategy planning, crisis communications, media events, branding and executing on company strategy.
Before Goldman Sachs, she helped establish Citigate Dewe Rogerson’s offices in Beijing and Shanghai, and worked in the investment banking division of Morgan Stanley for seven years and at China Great Wall Industry Corporation, which included four years in Germany.
Renfeng Zhao brings nearly 25 years of experience in journalism and communications to the firm. He previously was a partner at Brunswick Group, and before that, he was the managing partner of Kreab’s Beijing office. During this period, he advised on numerous landmark projects, including China’s first acquisition of an energy transmission asset in Europe and supported Chinese solar companies to defend their position in the EU’s anti-dumping investigation.
Zhao previously was a senior journalist with China Daily and is a regular speaker at events and forums. He has lived and worked in China, the United States, United Kingdom, Denmark and the Netherlands.
Other leaders in FTI Consulting’s Strategic Communications segment include Rachel Hsueh (who joined earlier this year) and Maggie Geng.
