Heidrick & Struggles has bolstered its consulting business in Asia Pacific with the hire of two new principals.

In Australia, Cate Borness has joined Heidrick Consulting – the human capital advisory arm of global executive search firm Heidrick & Struggles – as a principal in the Sydney office. She brings more than 25 years of experience designing and implementing development initiatives for leaders and teams across a range of sectors.

Prior to joining the firm, Borness worked for a boutique HR consultancy (Authenticate Consulting) and Deloitte Consulting as a Director in its Human Capital Advisory practice. In the roles, she led and supported the delivery of workforce transformation interventions for large clients, including executive and leadership development programs, executive coaching/mentoring, organisational culture change and diversity and inclusion programs.

As a Director at Diversity Australia, Borness focused on developing methodologies and managing engagements that enabled the application of the ISO 30415 Human Resource Management (Diversity and Inclusion Standards). Earlier in her career, she worked for talent specialist Peter Berry Consultancy and over a decade for Assessment Measures, among others.

Joyce Chan has joined Heidrick Consulting in its Singapore office. She previously was an Associate Client Partner at Korn Ferry, and before that she served Hay Group for nine years (Hay Group merged into Korn Ferry) in Singapore and strategy consulting firm Oliver Wyman in Hong Kong.

Chan consults and leads engagements on broad organisational issues with a focus on strategy implementation in the areas of operating model, structure development, jobs design, workforce planning and change management, particularly in situation of change and transformation. Her experience spans across both private and public sector.

At the national level, Chan has led engagements with major public agencies and organisations in the health, education and manpower sectors. Her private sector focus spans the fast moving consumer goods, life science, aviation, and oil trading sectors.

Heidrick & Struggles launched its dedicated consulting unit in 2017. Across Asia Pacific (and the Middle East), the subsidiary is led by Markus Wiesner – the former boss of Aon and Mercer in the Middle East.
