Singapore based law firm Oon & Bazul has promoted Keith Han to co-head of its Restructuring & Insolvency practice.

The 34-year-old has been with the award-winning law firm since July last year, when he joined from global player Clifford Chance as a partner. Over the past twelve months, Han has made a “significant contribution to the Restructuring & Insolvency practice” said Managing Partner and Head of Dispute Resolution Bazul Ashhab, a performance that now sees him rewarded with elevation to practice leader.

Han leads the wing together with present service line leader Meiyen Tan, who has been with the firm as a partner for close to four years and became the first female to lead a restructuring and insolvency legal practice in Singapore when she was installed in the role back in 2017.

Welcoming Han to the now dual leadership role, Tan said: “Working closely with Keith in the last year, I have seen him expand rapidly on his current skillsets as partner. With the practice increasingly securing more work and clinching top league rankings internationally, I welcome the additional support in running this practice.”

A graduate of the National University of Singapore, Han has a decade of experience in the legal side of restructuring and insolvency cases. Notable projects he worked on include: the insolvency of Wirecard, a pre-packaged insolvency restructuring at MNC Corporation, and advising and acting for the liquidators of OW Bunker Far East in a long-running, multi-jurisdictional insolvency following the collapse of the OW Bunker Group, one of the biggest players in the global bunker trading industry.

“I am thankful to the firm for the immense faith it has placed in me, and Meiyen for her unstinting support this past year. I look forward to bringing Oon & Bazul’s Restructuring & Insolvency practice to greater heights,” said Han.

Founded in 2002, Oon & Bazul works for clients including sovereign states, Fortune 500 corporations, large multinational corporations, financial institutions and high net-worth individuals. The law firm has around 80 lawyers in Singapore, and also operates with an associate firm (TS Oon & Partners) in Malaysia.
