Google has appointed former McKinsey consultant Sylvie Bardaune as its media leader for the Asia Pacific region.

Sylvie Bardaune brings around a dozen years of experience to the technology giant, having served large groups in professional services and multinationals since she kicked off her career following her graduation from HEC Paris. After internship spells at Mazars and then McKinsey & Company, Bardaune remained with the global strategy consulting powerhouse for seven years – in between obtaining her MBA at Insead.

At McKinsey, based in the firm’s Paris office, Bardaune grew the ranks from Junior Associate to Associate Partner. Her track record at the consulting firm included working on and leading 40+ engagements across sectors and continents (France, Europe, US, Asia, Australia, Africa), with focus on commercial growth, strategy and large-scale marketing and operations transformations.

During her McKinsey days, she “worked with executives, CxOs and board members of leading global companies on building new strategies, designing growth plans, identifying new business opportunities, leading large-scale transformations and driving change across organisations,” Bardaune states on her LinkedIn profile.

Following life in consulting, Bardaune relocated to Singapore and held a leadership position within digital marketing at Lazada (a South East Asia e-commerce player owned by Alibaba), and most recently spent three years at Standard Chartered, latterly as Global Head of the bank’s Digital Sales & Marketing. The remit saw her lead teams across 20+ markets in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

Now at Google, Bardaune has been tasked with further expanding Google’s already powerful branding in Asia Pacific. She is based in Singapore.
