Boston Consulting Group agrees alliance with Tencent Cloud

Boston Consulting Group has added Tencent Cloud to its list of technology partners.

The new strategic alliance will be led from Boston Consulting Group’s five offices in Greater China – in Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Taipei, and form an integral part of the firm’s recently launched digital center in Shenzhen.

With a cloud infrastructure on five continents, Tencent Cloud is one of the globe’s five largest cloud service providers, behind the likes of Amazon, Google and Microsoft. But in Asia Pacific, Tencent Cloud punches above its global weight, enjoying market leaderships (in terms of market share) in several countries and sectors. 

Under the alliance, Boston Consulting Group will help clients using or migrating to the Tencent Cloud with a range of consulting and technology services. The focus will initially be on digital transformation engagements in the finance and retail domain, with expansion into other domains on the table. 

Similarly, the geographic scope of the alliance will gradually be extended across Asia Pacific, and ultimately the globe. 

Commenting on the partnership with the US-origin management consulting powerhouse, a spokesperson of Tencent Cloud said: “Adopting digital transformation requires professional consulting firms to advise on many aspects such as strategy, business model and organisational transformation, cloud strategy, among others.”

“It also requires strong technical capabilities to offer solutions based on new technologies such as cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence and internet of things, to enable the launch of digital projects. Boston Consulting Group is a globally renowned consultancy that is recognised as a leader in the digital transformation landscape.” 

The technological side of the partnership will be led by Boston Consulting Group’s tech-focused subsidiaries, including BCG Platinion (IT implementation) and BCG Gamma (data science and artificial intelligence). 

According to a recent report by Boston Consulting Group, the Asia Pacific region is the globe’s growth leader in the public cloud market segment.
