Adrian Sham and Emily Lai partner at Grant Thornton Singapore
Grant Thornton has added two partners to its team in Singapore: Adrian Sham and Emily Lai.
Adrian Sham has been with the global accounting and consulting firm since 2005, when he joined the firm in the UK. Having grown the ranks to Director in the Employer Solutions team specialising in UK and US tax for employers, expatriates and high net worth individuals, Sham relocated to Singapore in the summer of 2015.
He has since played a key role in growing the Tax practice in Singapore, where he leads the outsourcing, employer solutions and high net worth team. He advises companies on assignment policies, long term incentive plans and equity schemes, and provides advice and compliance services covering residence planning, transactional support and structuring to high net worth individuals, their families and their businesses.
Meanwhile, Emily Lai has become Grant Thornton’s first partner in the business risk advisory practice. This service line provides clients in the financial services sector with risk management, internal audit, risk governance, financial crime compliance and internal controls.
Sandy Kumar, Global Head of Financial Services, said: “Globally, Grant Thornton has a leading presence in business risk advisory for financial institutions and we are thrilled that Emily has joined our team to boost the offering in this space in Singapore.”
Lai brings over 17 years of risk advisory experience in several industries including financial institutions such as banks, insurance firms, asset management companies, and payment services. She previously worked at Big Four accounting firms in the United States, Australia, Greater China and ASEAN regions where she has led many large complex projects that helped companies professionalise risk and compliance.
