BrazilFTI adds seasoned trio to APAC Constructions Solutions practice
FTI Consulting has bolstered its Constructions Solutions practice in Asia Pacific with three new consultants: Nick Adams, Neil Birchall and Johnny Chao.
Graham McNeill, FTI Consulting’s global leader of the Construction Solutions practice, said of the new recruits: “We continue to see a great demand for our Construction Solutions offerings in Asia Pacific. We are excited to expand our teams on the ground in the region.”
The most senior of the trio, Nick Adams, has been appointed a Senior Managing Director, based in FTI Consulting’s Hong Kong office. He joins the firm from Aspect Asia, and brings more than 35 years of experience with him to the consultancy. He specialises in the preparation, defence and management of contractual claims, as well as the provision of expert quantum advice, reports and evidence.
Adams has been appointed as a quantum expert on numerous occasions, including referrals to mediation, arbitration, adjudication and litigation, and has provided expert witness evidence on several disputes.
Joining Adams in Hong Kong is Johnny Chao, appointed an Associate Director. Adams has over 30 years of experience working on major construction projects in Hong Kong, China, Vietnam, Dubai and the United Kingdom. He has extensive pre-contract quantity surveying experience, spanning pre-tender estimating; preparing tender documents; preparing and valuing variations; preparing claims for Extension of Time and prolongation costs; and preparing accounts.
Adams also has post-contract experience, and is experienced with formal dispute resolution proceedings having prepared statements of claim and quantum analyses for arbitration proceedings and has acted as a quantum expert’s assistant on several occasions. Prior to joining FTI Consulting, he served Aspect Asia.
Meanwhile, Neil Birchall joins FTI Consulting in Australia, based in Brisbane. The newly appointed Managing Director joins the consulting firm from SJA Construction Services, where he was the Leader of its Expert Services practice. Birchall is a Quantity Surveyor with more than 34 years of construction and dispute resolution experience, including in the oil and gas, mining, infrastructure and transport, and public utilities sectors.
Birchall specialises in expert witness (quantum and delay), commercial advisory and dispute avoidance and has advised on matters in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Europe. He has been appointed on numerous occasions as an independent Expert Witness on both quantum and delay claims in complex arbitration and litigation matters.
FTI Consulting’s Construction Solutions practice helps its clients prevent cost and delays on major construction projects, and if it is too late, with managing and resolving issues related to commercial management, risks and disputes.
