Jon Rowell leads FTI Consulting in Asia and the Caribbean
Having co-led FTI Consulting’s Asia and the Caribbean operation for five years, Jon Rowell has per 1 January 2021 been handed the sole responsibility for the regional division.
Appointed as Leader of FTI Consulting’s Asia and the Caribbean operations, Jon Rowell will have executive responsibility for activities in the region and oversee the firm’s offices in twelve business jurisdictions.
Rowell is based in the firm’s Hong Kong office, and will also lead the offices in China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, as well as the Caribbean locales in Cayman Islands and the British Virgin Islands.
Commenting on his new role, Rowell said, “The depth and range of FTI Consulting’s platform in the region is unmatched. We have exceptional talent; we have invested in new platforms and we have grown our capabilities and headcount substantially. I am excited to continue to partner closely with my colleagues and our clients to deliver the best possible solutions and value with our global platform.”
Alongside managing the unit, Rowell will continue in his client-facing role of providing independent expertise and evidence in relation to complex business, valuation, accounting and financial matters.
Rowell brings more than three decades of experience to the role. Having previously served BDO, KPMG in the UK and Australia and independent Australian consultancy McGrathNicol as a partner, Rowell joined FTI Consulting in the summer of 2015.
His work primarily involves issues regarding the identification and valuation of damages, the valuation of businesses and the investigation of fraud and corruption. He has acted as an independent expert and investigating accountant in a wide variety of situations, including in relation to commercial and joint venture agreement disputes, merger and acquisition disputes, pricing-related disputes, intellectual property valuation disputes, shareholder disputes, family trust disputes and fraud and corruption investigations.
Appointed as a testifying expert in 2007, Rowell has testified on many occasions in Court and before international arbitration tribunals in Hong Kong, China, the Caribbean and Australia on behalf of both claimants and respondents. His clients span a range of sectors, from energy and natural resources, healthcare and financial services to pharmaceuticals, telecommunications and retail.
“Having Jon Rowell take on this role is a natural step. He is an incredibly experienced, strategic leader who understands the importance of client service and collaborating across various parts of the firm to ensure we address the breadth of the issues our clients face. I can think of no one better suited than Jon to build on the substantial success we are having in the region,” said Steven Gunby, FTI Consulting’s Chief Executive Officer.
Meanwhile, the former co-leader of the region John Batchelor has returned to Australia. “Though we are sorry John is leaving the region, we are pleased to support him in moving to Australia, where his family lives, and want to thank him for the terrific leadership he has shown in his five years co-leading the business,” said Gunby.
Globally, FTI Consulting has more than 6,200 employees located in 28 countries, generating $2.35 billion in revenues.
