John Collins joins FTI's Data & Analytics practice in Hong Kong
John Collins, an expert in technology-driven risk management and data analytics, has joined FTI Consulting in its Hong Kong office.
Appointed a Managing Director, John Collins brings over 25 years of experience in business, technology and risk management to the global consulting firm. Most of his experience was gained in the banking industry, having served among others HSBC, Morgan Stanley and Citibank.
In his last role at HSBC, Collins was Co-Head of the bank’s Innovation and Artificial Intelligence Data and Analytics (AIDA) Laboratory, and before that, he was Asia Head of Innovation and COO of the Internal Audit practice. In between his banking roles, Collins worked in consulting. Most recently, he led his own data and analytics boutique in Hong Kong, and earlier he established and led the risk practice of Rule Financial in London.
Leveraging his track record, Collins is an expert in financial risk management, including market, credit, liquidity, operational, cyber, financial crimes and regulatory compliance risk. He has extensive capital markets experience across fixed income, foreign exchange, equities, delta one, and OTC derivatives. He also specialises in applying machine learning and artificial intelligence to business problems.
At FTI Consulting, Collins is part of the firm’s Data & Analytics practice, a unit within the Forensic & Litigation Consulting segment. “In his new role, John will be focusing on a range of projects, and will bring valuable experience of specific areas including digital strategy and transformation, RegTech, and the upgrade of financial risk management and compliance using emerging technologies,” said Brett Clapp, FTI Consulting’s Head of Data & Analytics practice in Asia.
“I am certain he will be a great fit and a huge asset to our team, we are delighted to welcome him to the team,” he added.
Meanwhile, Jon Rowell, Co-Lead of Asia and Head of the Forensic & Litigation Consulting divisions (one of the firm’s five main divisions), said: “His appointment represents a significant investment in our regional data analytics capabilities that will enhance our ability to provide clients with the expertise and experience needed to navigate today’s dynamic and rapidly changing legal and regulatory landscape.”
FTI Consulting’s Data & Analytics team consists of experts in finance, forensic accounting, technology, and law, able to support clients with a multi-disciplinary offering.
Earlier this year, FTI Consulting – a $2.35 billion company – brought two of its global offerings into Asia. In April the firm launched its Relativity offering in China, while more recently, the consultancy introduced its ESG Compass proposition to its Asian clients.
