Andrew McCarthy and Anna Bleazard join FTI in Singapore
FTI Consulting has hired a pair of senior advisors from Big Four firm Deloitte. Andrew McCarthy and Anna Bleazard both join the global consultancy in its Singapore office.
McCarthy has been appointed Head of FTI Consulting’s Financial Crime Compliance practice for Singapore and Southeast Asia. In the role, he leads a team of practitioners that supports clients with end-to-end anti-money laundering, economic sanctions and anti-bribery and corruption consulting services.
The new practice leader brings over a decade of regulatory consulting experience to the role, with a focus on anti-money laundering, sanctions, and anti-bribery and corruption compliance. During his nine-year spell at Deloitte, where he latterly was a partner, McCarthy led and delivered complex projects for global and regional financial institutions related to the assessment, design and implementation of financial crime programmes, including customer due diligence and transaction monitoring operating models and controls.
Earlier in his career, McCarthy was a senior economic advisor at the US Department of Defense, where he specialised in financial intelligence to support counterterrorism, counterproliferation and counterintelligence activities.
He is joined at FTI Consulting by Anna Bleazard, who has been named a Managing Director. She spent twelve years with Deloitte prior to her move, working in the firm’s Forensic service line. She has extensive financial crime and forensic accounting experience under her belt, including a decade on the ground in Asia, having relocated from the UK in 2011.
Bleazard has planned, led and executed fraud, bribery and corruption, anti-money laundering, transaction monitoring, sanctions, and general compliance investigations for both financial services and non-financial services clients across Southeast Asia and Europe. She has also worked with regulators and law enforcement agencies in Singapore, the UK and US.
Commenting on the double hire, Rod Francis, the global head of FTI Consulting’s Financial Crime Compliance practice and formerly Citibank’s APAC Regional Head of Anti-Money Laundering Compliance, said: “We are delighted to have Drew and Anna onboard. Their passion for and experience in all things financial crime will significantly bolster our regional offerings, providing the best possible advice and service to our clients.”
In Asia, FTI Consulting has nine offices, in Singapore, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia and the Philippines. Globally, the consulting firm has to the tune of 5,500 employees located in 27 countries.
