L.E.K. Consulting Asia promotes Patrick Branch and Yong Teng to Partner

29 January 2018 Consultancy.asia

International consulting firm L.E.K. Consulting has promoted Tokyo-based advisor Patrick Branch to Partner, following almost 12 years at the firm. Yong Teng, based in Shanghai, has also been appointed a Partner – after having been with the management consultancy for around two years.

Patrick Branch joined L.E.K. Consulting in 2007, after previously holding roles in the life sciences industry; at the Japanese subsidiary of AstraZeneca and the Singapore subsidiary of Biogen. As he climbed the ranks of the global management consulting field, Branch increasingly focused on corporate and business unit strategy, commercial strategy, pricing, market access and M&A for the biopharmaceutical, medical device and broader healthcare sectors – he has more than 100 projects and assignments under his belt to date.

Branch worked for three L.E.K. Consulting offices prior to joining the firm’s Tokyo hub, where he currently is based. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Nottingham, a Master of Arts in Asian History from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, a Master of Public Health from the Columbia University in the City of New York and a Master of Business Administration from INSEAD.

Yong Teng joined A.T. Kearney in 2008, spending six years at the consultancy and rising to the rank of Principal. In 2014 he joined Crimson Investment, where he worked as a Director focused on cross-border buy-out / deal assessment and portfolio management. He moved to L.E.K. Consulting's Shanghai office in 2016, bringing with him over 15 years of experience in leading global corporations and Chinese State-owned and private enterprises. He has advised clients in the energy, industrial, automotive and manufacturing sectors on growth planning, operating improvement, investments and post-merger integrations.

Teng holds a Master of Business Administration from Cornell University and a Doctor of Philosophy in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Virginia.

The promotions see Branch and Teng become Partners at the consulting firm. They will continue to work in their current areas of expertise – as the regions tackle several challenges, with the ageing population in Japan increasingly placing demand on healthcare related offerings, while China continues to push for transformation of its industries as the country gradually transitions to a more open and services-based economy.

Commenting on the new Partners, Stuart Jackson, L.E.K.’s Global Managing Partner, said, “It is with great pleasure that we congratulate our new partners and recognise their accomplishments in delivering exceptional results for our clients. Patrick and Yong have excelled at providing strategic insights with powerful impact to businesses and industries around the world, and have helped drive increased demand for our services.”

Earlier this month, FTI Consulting promoted two of its senior advisors in China and Singapore to Senior Managing Director level.
