Bain & Company recruits operations consulting veteran Olaf Schatteman
Leading global strategy and management consultancy Bain & Company has recruited former Accenture managing director Olaf Schatteman as a partner to be based out of Sydney.
After almost the past decade spent with Accenture, consulting veteran Olaf Schatteman has joined global strategy leaders Bain & Company as a partner based out of Sydney. Previously heading up Accenture Strategy’s Supply Chain, Operations and Sustainability practice across the Asia Pacific, Africa, Middle East & Turkey, Schatteman will now be responsible for supporting Bain’s international clients with their performance improvement agendas.

Kicking off his career in 1996 with the European Performance Institute (a privately owned boutique turnaround advisory), the Maastricht University MBA graduate in business economics then joined Accenture for his first five-year stint two years on, serving in its supply chain practice. After a seven-year detour with procurement consultancy the Portland Group (now a subsidiary of Infosys), he then rejoined Accenture in Australia in the middle of 2010.
During his altogether one and a half decades with Accenture, Schatteman held numerous roles at the firm, starting out as an Executive Director in its Supply Chain Management practice for Australia and New Zealand before going on to lead Accenture Strategy’s operations consulting practice for the Asia Pacific and ultimately until the end of last year its Supply Chain & Operations business for the Asia Pacific, Africa, Middle East and Turkey.
Now he will be tending to Bain’s clients across the Asia Pacific region, and in the words of the firm helping them architect more effective and efficient operations to deliver better customer experiences whilst improving environmental and societal impact, especially in the areas of digital supply chain strategy, service management, operations management, and sourcing and procurement. Schatteman is also a recognised thought leader on the topic of supply-chains.
