Steven Parker joins BRG as head of Financial Investigations in APAC
Berkeley Research Group has further bolstered its local leadership stocks with the appointment of Steven Parker as head of Financial Investigations and Regulatory Compliance for Greater China and APAC.
After bringing in Peter Bird and Tigran Ter-Martirosyan to its Singapore office in March, global consultancy Berkeley Research Group has further boosted its expertise in the Asia region with the appointment of Steven Parker as its new head of Financial Investigations and Regulatory Compliance for Greater China and Asia Pacific. Parker joins Ter-Martirosyan in crossing from valuations and disputes competitor Duff & Phelps.
A Managing Director in Duff & Phelps Hong Kong branch since mid-2017, Parker prior to that spent close to a decade at Experis (formerly Jefferson Wells), tasked with establishing its risk advisory consulting practice in APAC. Earlier in his career, Parker spent nearly six years building the management consulting practice of Deloitte in Shanghai from the ground up, with CFO stints at McCormick & Co. and Ferrari in between.
“We are delighted to welcome Steven to the firm,” said Stuart Witchell, Head of BRG’s Global Investigations + Strategic Intelligence practice in APAC. “His long-track record of delivering world-class advice to multinational companies and law firms adds further depth and experience to our regional offering. His appointment advances our strategy to grow BRG’s global investigations business across APAC, enabling us to service this key market.”
Based out of BRG’s Hong Kong office (one of six in the region), Parker will according to the firm advise clients on matters relating to forensic accounting investigations, internal controls, risk frameworks, corporate governance, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and anti-bribery compliance programmes – having amassed more than 25 years of experience in the Greater China region and conducted numerous assignments across a broad range of industries.
“I am excited to join BRG during this remarkable period of growth across APAC,” said Parker, who joins as a principal. “Having worked in Hong Kong and Shanghai for over two decades, joining BRG to help build out its Financial Investigations and Regulatory Compliance practice is a natural next step for me. I am very much looking forward to advising BRG’s clients to ensure they understand the challenges they face in this interesting region.”
According to the firm, Parker’s appointment is part of BRG’s continued expansion plans in the APAC region, one which continues to heat up in the disputes & investigations space. Among other recent high-profile recruits, Deloitte last month added Richard Hayler as its Southeast Asia Disputes and Arbitration Leader, following its eariler appointment of Jarrod Baker as the investigations leader of its Forensics practice.
Founded in the US in 2010, BRG today occupies dozens of offices across the globe, including six in the Asia Pacific: Hong Kong, Beijing, Tokyo, Singapore, Sydney and Mumbai. The firm provides a broad suite of services across three primary practices – Disputes & Investigations, Corporate Finance, and Strategy & Operations – serving the financial services, construction, TMT, energy and healthcare sectors among others.
