Tricor appoints ex-Deloitte partner Chloe Chan as group M&A Director
Asian integrated business advisory Tricor has appointed ex-Deloitte partner and former KPMG director Chloe Chan as the firm’s new group M&A Director.
Tricor, a Hong Kong-founded professional services firm with over a dozen offices spanning Southeast and East Asia from Malaysia to Japan (among its now nearly 40 worldwide covering the British Isles, Australia and the Americas), has announced the appointment of ex-Deloitte partner and former KPMG director in deal strategy Chloe Chan as its new Group M&A Director.
Following a recent stint with Deloitte’s M&A Advisory practice in Hong Kong, Chan will now be responsible for leading Tricor’s global M&A strategy, which the firm describes as an essential component of its long-term strategy to be the leading business solutions provider in Asia. Just last month, the firm acquired Madison Pacific, an independent Asian provider of corporate trust and agency services.
Tricor Group’s CEO Lennard Yong said of the appointment, “I’m confident that Chloe will be an asset for realising our long-term growth plans. Acquisitions are a crucial part of our business strategy, and we actively seek them out to develop our presence in both new and established markets… With Chloe as Group M&A Director, I look forward to building on our already successful M&A track record and bringing Tricor’s offering and capabilities to even greater heights.”Having in the past decade worked on over 120 private and public deals worth US$50 million to US$ 2 billion, Chan crosses to the firm with an impressive pedigree, most recently as a partner with Deloitte, and developed earlier during a near four-year stint until September 2017 as a Director in Big Four rival KPMG’s Global Strategy Group. Previously, Chan spent over five years as a Manager with the firm in its Transaction Services division.
In her new role, Chan will foremost be tasked with managing the execution of new acquisitions – from pre-deal negotiations through to completion, while further ensuring a robust M&A pipeline – with an emphasis on due diligence and customer excellence. According to a statement, Chan will be based out of the firm’s headquarters in Hong Kong.
“I am excited to announce that I joined Tricor Group as Group M&A Director to lead Tricor’s global M&A strategy. Tricor is Asia’s leading provider of integrated business, corporate, investor, human resources and payroll, corporate trust and debt services,” Chan, who holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, said in a statement on LinkedIn.
Tricor isn’t the only firm in recent times looking to bolster its local M&A expertise through key appointments. Former CIMB co-head of wholesale banking Mah Kah Loon will reportedly join EY’s M&A and deal origination practice in October, while Willis Towers Watson last month appointed Terence Montgomery to lead its M&A Transaction Solutions unit for the Asia Pacific.
