The Strategic Communications segment serves as trusted advisors to management teams and Boards of Directors seeking to seize opportunities, manage crises, navigate market disruptions, articulate their brand, stake a competitive position, and preserve their permission to operate.

Position Summary

We are seeking to hire an experienced public affairs practitioner to join an ambitious and growth-minded team in China. The successful candidate will help steer and grow the company's public affairs practice areas in China.

You should have a proven ability to service client companies on a day-to-day basis as well as a track record of successfully contributing to new business development. You should also have a strong interest in developing a strategic approach to communications, excellent written and verbal communications skills in both Mandarin Chinese and English and an ability to help manage junior team members as a collegiate team player. You should be mature, results-oriented, and prepared to learn and utilise new approaches to communications as part of a leading global communications consultancy business.

The successful candidate will be entering a company that has operated in China for over a decade and that already has a range of globally-leading domestic and multinational clients in the country, including a number of Fortune500 companies. While you will be expected to contribute to new business development, the successful candidate will be able to join a number of exciting and challenging client accounts, serving a range of household corporate names from day one.

The position can be located in either of FTI Consulting's Beijing or Shanghai offices.

A Day in the Life of a Director

  • Conduct day-to-day management of public affairs and strategic communications client accounts
  • Work with a highly motivated team to strengthen the firm's communications offerings in China and globally
  • Provide input towards the development of the firm's strategic direction in the China market.
  • Grow and strengthen connectivity with other regional and global offices
  • Develop and execute plans for business development with large Chinese companies and multinational corporations
  • Lead the creation of high-quality client deliverables, business development proposals and marketing collateral
  • Provide input for the practice's marketing and promotional activities in China, Asia, and globally
  • Manage and mentor junior team members
  • Helps clients identify and escalate risks in order to act and communicate with integrity.
  • Understands and lives by FTI's values, Code of Ethics and the Strategic Communications Rules of Practice, and works with junior staff to embed these concepts within the firm's culture. What We Are Looking For

  • Fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese, both verbal and written
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Track record of providing public affairs consultancy for local and international clients
  • New business development skills (strategy and proposal development, etc.)
  • Ability to leverage existing relationships to win new business with both local and international clients
  • Excellent presentation, project management and written and verbal commnuications skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage one's own time and priorities
  • A collegiate approach to working in a diverse team across China, the Asian region and globally
